In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth, and everything He made was declared to be โvery goodโ (Genesis 1:31). His creation was perfect, untouched by sin, a reflection of His glory, wisdom, and power. However, when sin entered the world through Adam, creation itself was subjected to corruption (Romans 8:20-22). While the world today bears the marks of sinโdecay, suffering, and deathโit still retains echoes of its original beauty. The majesty of the mountains, the vastness of the oceans, the intricate design of life, and the breathtaking wonder of the stars all point to the greatness of our Creator.
As believers, we should be grateful for Godโs creation, recognizing it as a gift from Him and a means of revealing His divine nature (Psalm 19:1). At the same time, we must be careful not to exalt creation above the Creator. The world is not to be worshiped but rather enjoyed in its proper contextโas a testament to the One who made it. As the Everyday Study Bible rightly states, โGodโs people should affirm and seek to preserve the goodness of Godโs creationโ (2018, p. 10). While we acknowledge the brokenness caused by sin, we should still appreciate, care for, and use creation to point others to the glory of God.
Our Responsibility as Ambassadors for Christ
As Christians, we are called to be ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20), representing Him in a fallen world. Our mission is to point others to Jesus so that they, too, might come to a saving knowledge of Him. This includes recognizing that every personโbeliever and unbeliever alikeโbelongs to God. We are not our own, nor are we the ultimate owners of this world. As the psalmist declares: โThe earth is the Lordโs, and the fulness thereof: the world, and they that dwell thereinโ (Psalm 24:1).
This truth should shape how we live. If everything belongs to the Lord, then our lives should be wholly devoted to Him. We are stewards of what He has entrusted to us, and our greatest responsibility is to bring others to the knowledge of the truth. Sharing the gospel is not merely an optionโit is a command (Matthew 28:19-20). If we truly understand the gravity of eternity, we should be driven with urgency to proclaim the good news to those who are lost.
Creation as a Testimony to Unbelievers
Even in its fallen state, creation serves as a powerful testimony to Godโs existence and divine nature. The beauty, order, and complexity of the universe bear undeniable evidence of an intelligent Creator. From the precise laws of physics that govern the cosmos to the delicate balance of ecosystems on Earth, every detail speaks of intentional design. The apostle Paul affirms this truth in Romans 1:20: โFor the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.โ
No one can stand before God and claim ignorance of His existence. The evidence is everywhereโwritten in the sky, the seas, and even in the human body, fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). To believe that all of this came into being by random chance is not only unreasonableโit is an outright rejection of the truth God has revealed. The intricate design of creation is not an accident; it is the work of an almighty, omnipotent Maker.
If you are an unbeliever, I urge you to look beyond the distractions of this world and consider the reality of Godโs existence. The very breath in your lungs is a gift from Him. The world around you is a reflection of His glory. Do not suppress the truthโacknowledge your Creator before it is too late.
The Gospel: Our Only Hope for Redemption
God created humanity for His glory, yet we have all turned away from Him. Just as creation is no longer โvery goodโ because of the effects of sin, neither are we. The Bible makes it clear:
- โThere is none righteous, no, not oneโ (Romans 3:10).
- โFor all have sinned, and come short of the glory of Godโ (Romans 3:23).
Sin has separated us from God, and the just punishment for our rebellion is eternal condemnationโan eternity apart from Him in hell. Some might argue that they are โgoodโ people, but in reality, our hearts are deceitful and desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9). No amount of good works can erase our sin or earn us favor with a holy God (Ephesians 2:8-9).
But God, in His great love and mercy, provided the only way of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus lived a perfect, sinless lifeโthe life we could never live. On the cross, He took upon Himself the punishment we deserve. Isaiah 53:5 declares: โHe was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.โ
Jesus bore the wrath of God in our place. He suffered, bled, and died so that we might be forgiven. But the grave could not hold Him. On the third day, He rose again, defeating sin and death once and for all (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). His resurrection is proof that His sacrifice was accepted and that He has the power to give eternal life to all who believe in Him.
Salvation is a free gift, but it requires a response. To be saved, you must acknowledge your sin, repent, and place your full trust in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation. Romans 10:9 assures us: โThat if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.โ
A Call to Respond
If you have never trusted in Christ, I plead with you to do so today. Tomorrow is not promised. You do not know when your last breath will be. Where you spend eternity depends on how you respond to Jesus Christ. Reject Him, and you will face eternal separation from God. Receive Him by faith, and you will have everlasting life.
โFor whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be savedโ (Romans 10:13).
God has given you the truth. He has revealed Himself in creation, in His Word, and most clearly through His Son, Jesus Christ. Will you repent and believe today? I pray that you will.

Amen, Brother Tharp! Thank you for sharing.
